Acknowledgements
Cycle Positive® stands on the shoulders of pioneers, visionaries, and practitioners who have laid the foundations for a menstruality movement rooted in leadership, inclusion, and cultural transformation.
We honour the lineages, frameworks, and wisdom traditions that inform this work.
Red School UK
We acknowledge and give deep thanks to Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo-Wurlitzer, founders of Red School UK and creators of Menstrual Cycle Awareness (MCA).
Their body of work, including the 'Cyclical Map of the VIA Positionalities', Wild Power, Wise Power, and the Menstruality Leadership Program, has provided the core philosophical and embodied framework upon which Cycle Positive® is built. Their articulation of the inner seasons and the wisdom of cyclical living continues to shape a global awakening in menstruality.
Dr Lara Owen
We respectfully acknowledge Dr Lara Owen, whose pioneering work bridges menstruality and the workplace. Her landmark book Her Blood Is Gold was one of the first to speak of menstruation as sacred, and her academic contributions have laid a powerful foundation for legitimising MCA in professional settings.
Her more recent publication, Reorganizing Menstruation (Oxford University Press, 2024), and her PhD in menstrual organisation from Monash Business School provide an essential lens through which we frame MCA as a leadership and organisational tool.
Victorian Women’s Trust & Chalice Foundation
We thank the Victorian Women’s Trust, and particularly Jane Bennett and the Chalice Foundation, for their visionary work in normalising menstrual positivity in Australia. Through their educational work, publications, and advocacy, including About Bloody Time and Ourselves at Work: Creating Positive Menstrual Culture in Your Workplace, they have helped shape a national conversation around menstrual wellbeing, policy, and inclusion. Their early leadership in workplace policy has deeply influenced Cycle Positive’s approach to systems change.
This work is not created in isolation. We honour the educators, researchers, elders, menstruators, and allies who have kept this wisdom alive across cultures and generations.
Cycle Positive® has also been shaped by our founder’s personal initiations, deep mentorship, and embodied training in Menstrual Leadership and Cyclical Intelligence.
We honour the teachings of Jane Hardwicke Collings, whose work on birth imprinting and the creative cycle has profoundly informed our intuitive approach to cyclical leadership. Her writings and workshops continue to inspire a reclamation of menstrual wisdom as both spiritual and practical.
This work has also been nurtured through direct study with Sarah Miller and Raven Abulhawa, whose grounded presence and teachings have held space for deeper integration.
Cycle Positive® is proud to contribute to this evolving legacy with respect, care, and commitment.
